At the same time, two <strong>Busts of the Roman Emperor<\/strong> from the Zani collection, attributable to the circle of Guglielmo and Giovanni Battista della Porta, will inhabit the Hall of the Emperors in the Borghese Gallery.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">__________________________<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><strong>THE\u00a0BORGHESE SAVOLDO | Rome\u00a0to\u00a0Brescia\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>In\u00a0the\u00a0room\u00a0dedicated\u00a0to\u00a0temporary\u00a0exhibitions, Casa Museo Zani exhibits\u00a0the\u00a0<em><strong>Bust\u00a0of\u00a0a\u00a0Young\u00a0Man<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em><strong>Tobias\u00a0and\u00a0the\u00a0Angel\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>by\u00a0<strong>Giovanni Gerolamo Savoldo<\/strong> (Brescia 1480 ca. \u2013 Venice?\u00a0Post\u00a01548).\u00a0The\u00a0canvases,\u00a0on\u00a0loan\u00a0from\u00a0the\u00a0Borghese\u00a0Gallery,\u00a0are\u00a0unanimously\u00a0considered\u00a0by\u00a0critical\u00a0historiography\u00a0<strong>among\u00a0the\u00a0works\u00a0of\u00a0greatest lyricism\u00a0within\u00a0the\u00a0artist&#8217;s\u00a0catalog<\/strong>, counted \u2013\u00a0with\u00a0Moretto\u00a0and Romanino &#8211; among the noble fathers of Reinessance painting of Brescia and Lombard origin.<\/p>\n<p>In\u00a0the\u00a0<em><strong>Bust\u00a0of\u00a0a\u00a0Young\u00a0Man<\/strong><\/em>,\u00a0a\u00a0boy\u00a0without\u00a0elements\u00a0useful\u00a0for\u00a0his\u00a0identification\u00a0is\u00a0portrayed\u00a0in\u00a0three &#8211; quarter view on a dark background, in the act of reaching out towards the viewer, within a confined\u00a0space.\u00a0There\u00a0are\u00a0two\u00a0plausible\u00a0hypotheses,\u00a0although\u00a0without\u00a0documentary\u00a0evidence:\u00a0some\u00a0believe\u00a0it\u00a0is\u00a0a\u00a0portrait\u00a0from\u00a0life\u00a0of\u00a0an\u00a0unknown\u00a0patron \u2013 perhaps belonging to the circle of Cardinal Gasparo Contarini \u2013\u00a0by\u00a0others\u00a0the\u00a0preparatory\u00a0study\u00a0for\u00a0the\u00a0figure\u00a0of\u00a0St. John the Evangelist the\u00a0Evangelist\u00a0in\u00a0the\u00a0lost Deposition Cross in Berlin, dated 1537. What is certain, hower, is that\u00a0the\u00a0work\u00a0is\u00a0the\u00a0testimony\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a0crestal\u00a0phase\u00a0in\u00a0which,\u00a0not\u00a0completely\u00a0abandoning\u00a0the\u00a0typical stylistic features of Lombard figurative culture, the author evolves in the use of colors and the treatment\u00a0of\u00a0light,\u00a0in\u00a0the\u00a0light\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a0important\u00a0lesson\u00a0of\u00a0Titian.<\/p>\n<p id=\"tw-target-text\" class=\"tw-data-text tw-text-large tw-ta\" dir=\"ltr\" data-placeholder=\"Traduzione\" aria-label=\"Testo tradotto\" data-ved=\"2ahUKEwiF4tbIuquIAxVx8AIHHd2AMGYQ3ewLegQIBxAU\"><span class=\"Y2IQFc\" lang=\"en\">Also indebted to Titian&#8217;s lesson is the biblical-themed canvas <em><strong>Tobias and the Angel<\/strong><\/em>, considered <strong>one of the most important examples of Savoldo&#8217;s production<\/strong>. It is in fact through the use of bright colors that the painter simulates the expedient of a light source which, from the background of the composition, strikes the angel, placing the young man&#8217;s face in dim light, making the drapery silky, shiny and particularly material, with almost metallic folds.<\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"tw-target-text\" class=\"tw-data-text tw-text-large tw-ta\" dir=\"ltr\" data-placeholder=\"Traduzione\" aria-label=\"Testo tradotto\" data-ved=\"2ahUKEwiF4tbIuquIAxVx8AIHHd2AMGYQ3ewLegQIBxAU\"><span class=\"Y2IQFc\" lang=\"en\">It was William Suida, in 1937, who was the first to compare the figure of the announcing angel of Savoldo to that of Titian&#8217;s <em>Averoldi Polyptych<\/em>, a masterpiece created in 1522 for the church of Santi Nazaro e Celso in Brescia. The beginning of the convinced adherence to Titian&#8217;s ways dates back to then, which around the middle of the third decade of the sixteenth century began to characterize a particularly happy phase of Savoldo&#8217;s production. A further example of this is the rendering of the landscape, constructed by means of dark masses and a bright use of color which emerges particularly clearly in the rendering of the fabrics of the two
