UNTIL MAY 30th!

The new exhibition room in the Casa Museo hosts the talisman of Maria Callas: the Holy Family painted by Giambettino Cignaroli (1706-1770).

The painting for its symbolic value, was indissolubly linked to Maria Callas because Giovanni Battista Meneghini donated it to the soprano on 1st August 1947, on the eve of her debut at Arena in Verona. Since then Maria Callas and the Holy Family became inseparable.
In any photographs portraying her in a dressing room the painting is always visible beside the makeup mirror since, as Maria Callas herself stated in an interview: “Only twice I have forgotten to take it to my dressing-room and on both occasions I developed severe hoarseness and couldn’t go on”.
