A Venetian view, with the docks of the San Marco Basin. From the left, the painting depicts: the Zecca di Venezia (the mint), today home to the Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana, with the tall bell tower in the background, then Piazzetta San Marco, accessed through the two columns, Saint Theodore’s and Saint Mark’s (in the background you can make out the clock tower), on the right, the Doge’s Palace covered in pink marble and decorated with a double row of white marble gothic porticoes, the prison, and finally, Palazzo Dandolo, which today houses Hotel Danieli.
