Description

This Louis XIV style table displays a refined pewter and brass inlay in the Boulle manner. On the tabletop, two medallions depicting followers of Bacchus riding leopards, enclosed in frames of arabesque ribbons based on Jean Berain’s designs (1637-1711). Cherubs play with tame birds and move towards flower pots set on the frames and enveloped in vines; Arcadian sphinxes are perched on antique tripods.
