LUCK ENIGMA
THE MUSIC SOURCE
MICHELE PASOTTI lute and direction
La Fonte Musica is an ensemble founded and directed by Michele Pasotti, born to interpret the extraordinary musical season of transition between the medieval and humanistic ages, with particular attention to the Italian fourteenth century.
At the center of the idea of interpretation of La Fonte Musica is the “return to the sources” (hence its name), to the roots of polyphony, to the meaning of lyrical texts and compositional choices, a careful deciphering of rhetoric and grammar musical to understand and translate with an experimental attitude for us, today, the creativity, refinement and beauty of ancient music.
The ensemble has been a guest of the most important European early music festivals: Oude Muziek (Utrecht), Resonanzen (Konzerthaus, Vienna), Bruges MA Festival, Ravenna Festival, Innsbrucker Festwochen Alter Musik, Regensburg Tage Alte Musik, Laus Polyphoniae Antwerpen, Wratislavia Cantans (Wroclaw), Herne Tage Alter Musik, Concerts Medieval du Musée de Cluny (Paris), Musica Sacra Maastricht, Urbino Musica Antica, Teatro la Fenice (Venice), MiTo Settembre Musica (Milan-Turin), Festival Póvoa de Varzim, Festival de Lanvellec, Trigonale (Klagenfurt), Vespers in San Maurizio (Milan), Le festival Voix et Route Romane, Brighton Early Music Festival.
Enigma Luck
Antonio Zacara da Teramo (ca. 1360/1416?) is certainly among the most important Italian composers between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance.
His music presents the widest possible variety of styles, registers and forms. He was also one of the most prolific, talented, and widely disseminated and copied composers of his time. And perhaps the one that had the greatest influence on the following generation, an authentic bridge between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance.
Enigma Fortuna is an invitation to discover the great vitality and eccentricity of his music, in which enigmas and oracles are intertwined, obsessive variations on the theme of fortune, proverbs, popular mottos, dialect words, the sarcastic, ironic, often self-deprecating tone, the lyrics autobiographical, the happiness of melodic invention and in some songs a great rhythmic audacity.
A very talented visionary who must become part of our cultural landscape.

SCIROCCO CONCERT
GIULIA GENINI bassoon and direction
BAROQUE GARDEN
The Concerto Scirocco ensemble, founded in June 2009, dedicates its activity to Renaissance and early Baroque repertoire.
The musicians of the group, young and talented artists trained at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, share an enthusiasm for ancient music and period instruments, and the desire to combine personal creativity with an awareness of historical performance practice. The name “Scirocco” is inspired by the southern wind and represents the fascinating sounds of the ancient wind instruments, the fulcrum of the group, accompanied by the organ. Concerto Scirocco always places one or more voices alongside the instrumental capella to underline the importance of vocal music on the development of the instrumental repertoire.
Concerto Scirocco has to its credit collaborations with ancient music festivals in Switzerland and abroad: Festival Ceresio Estate, Festival Cantar di Pietre, Davos Festival Young Artists in Concert, Musiksommer am Zürichsee, Festival Altstadt Serenaden Basel, Midi Musique am Theater Basel, Les Concerts de l’ADMA, Konzertreihe der Musikintrumentensammlung Willisau, Festival di Musica Antica a Magnano, Fabulous Fringe Festival Utrecht, Festival Alte Musik Live Berlin, Festival Freunde Alter Musik Basel, La tribune des Jeunes Musiciens Genève, Les Concerts de Romainmôtier.

André Lislevand: Viola da Gamba
Jadran Duncumb: Baroque Lute, Theorbo
Emil Duncumb: Fortepiano
GALLANTRY, A NEW ERA
Awarded with a Diapason Découverte, André Lislevand’s debut album, Forqueray Unchained (Arcana A486, 2021), celebrated one of the heydays of the viola da gamba, France during the Ancien Régime.
A repertoire in which the young musician demonstrated that he was ‘absolutely on top of his game and not afraid to explore the extremes of his instrument’s aesthetic world, though without ever losing touch with le bon goût (Early Music Review)’. The same freshness and youthful energy are found in this second album with which he explores the German repertoire of the central decades of the eighteenth century, a season that marks the progressive decline of the instrument, still capable of expressing unexpected treasures through a language that often seems to anticipate the years to come.
On the programme, the sonatas with continuous bass WQ 136 by C.P.E. Bach and Abel in A minor B93; Telemann’s Fantasia Accomplices of the young violist and extraordinary chamber musicians, the Duncumb brothers are a fundamental part of this project, the forte player Emil and the lutenist Jadran, already present on the debut album.
