The Dancing Faun

Art, Fashion, Dance

From September 12th, don’t miss the Dancing Faun between Art, Fashion, and Dance!

The Dancing Faun, “…the most beautiful statue there is,” as sculptor Massimiliano Soldani Benzi wrote to the Prince of Liechtenstein in 1695, is the protagonist of a captivating exhibition in which the largest porcelain statue in existence is displayed alongside ancient bronze and plaster examples of the same subject. The movement, dance, and myth of the Faun are also explored in the exhibition in a parallel and integrated itinerary, featuring costumes created by legendary costume designers, artists, and couturiers for some of the legends of dance: from Rudolf Nureyev to Carla Fracci and Gheorghe Iancu, from Alessandra Ferri to Roberto Bolle.

The exhibition is a collaboration between the Paolo and Carolina Zani Foundation and Palazzo Madama in Turin, Gallerie Nazionali di Arte Antica Palazzo Barberini e Galleria Corsini in Rome, the Museo Ginori in Sesto Fiorentino, the Museo Tattile Statale Omero in Ancona, and the Compagnia Italiana della Moda e del Costume in Milan.

The collateral events accompanying the exhibition will be announced in early September: conferences, meetings, and educational and experiential workshops!

The temporary exhibition will be accompanied by a catalog published by the Paolo and Carolina Zani Foundation.
