Description

This pair of allegoric statues is set on a rock-shaped base in ebonized wood decorated with gilded leaves. They may date back to the period following Filippo Parodi’s return to his hometown after his long Roman sojourn, i.e. a little after 1666. In fact, these bear witness to the fact that the Genoese sculptor has, at this point, already been subject to Bernini’s influence. This is how we should interpret the figures’ dynamic pose and the pliant twist of their limbs.
